Overview Our Review Bonus DFS Verdict

Thrive Fantasy Review

Several Daily Fantasy Sports brands have been making the rounds in the US lately, and ThriveFantasy is one of them. In this review, we take a closer look at the app to know if it actually offers quality DFS features.

For starters, ThriveFantasy focuses on player prop contests, particularly over/under picks. As such, you’ll be building entries by selecting outcomes on individual player stats across various sports. Continue reading as I discuss more.

How does ThriveFantasy perform at first impression?

My first impression of ThriveFantasy was fairly straightforward. The site has quite a modern and sleek look, with a black background and blue accents. This is pretty characteristic of many other Daily Fantasy Sports websites we’ve reviewed. That said, what stood out immediately was the welcome offer — a 100% first deposit match up to $250. It’s prominently displayed in bold white letters at the top of the homepage, clearly meant to catch attention right away.

How to sign up to ThriveFantasy

As I scrolled down, I found links to download the ThriveFantasy app on both the App Store and Google Play. Thanks to this, there was no guessing about how to get started. Just beneath the app links is a quick overview of how the platform works. I instantly knew I could build an entry in minutes, choose only the superstars, and score up to 20.2x in winnings. Here’s how to go about it:

Available bonuses at ThriveFantasy Sports

4.5/5

On the ThriveFantasy app, I found a generous welcome offer: a 100% first deposit match up to $250. I describe it as generous because not many alternative DFS brands feature a signup bonus of up to $100, let alone $250. To claim it, you don’t need any promo code. Simply drop a minimum deposit of $10, and you’re good to go.

Based on my checks, the promo has a 2x playthrough requirement. As such, I had to enter DFS Contests and Pick’em for twice the bonus amount before making any withdrawals.

A brief timeline of ThriveFantasy DFS

Despite being around for nearly a decade, ThriveFantasy isn’t a DFS site that appears in the news regularly. I did some research to uncover key milestones in the brand’s history, and these are the few I found:

  1. 2016: ThriveFantasy was officially launched by current CEO Adam Weinstein
  2. 2020: ThriveFantasy entered a strategic partnership with Envy Gaming. The deal saw ThriveFantasy power all of Envy’s daily fantasy offerings, a significant push into the esports industry.
  3. 2021: ThriveFantasy became Super League Gaming’s official daily fantasy esports platform. This second partnership further expanded the brand’s presence in the DFS and esports niches.
  4. 2021: ThriveFantasy enters a DFS and esports partnership deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars

ThriveFantasy is available across all major platforms, including Android, iOS, and the web via your browser. This is a big plus in my books, as it means you can get started regardless of your device. As I mentioned when detailing our first impression, the black and blue color theme makes the interface appear modern and sleek.

Since most users play on mobile, I focused more on the application in this ThriveFantasy review. Navigation wasn’t any trouble. From the top tab, I switched between Contests and Pick’em modes with a single click. Meanwhile, the bottom menu gives quick access to Props, Entries, Live, Alerts, and your Account. I also commend the option to filter contests based on type, entry fee, and prize amount. This way, you can narrow down your selections pretty quickly.

The ThriveFantasy desktop experience

If you prefer using ThriveFantasy on a desktop, you still won’t encounter any hassle. The PC interface is much wider, which you’d expect for a bigger screen size. ThriveFantasy still places the Contests/Pick’em toggle at the top center, and most of the menu options shift to the top left.

While making my DFS picks, the selections instantly appeared on the slip on the bottom right. This was much more convenient than having to click the Entries option on mobile each time. Thanks to the feature, you can quickly view your selected props before submitting your entry.

A look at ThriveFantasy’s payment methods

4.4/5

As a ThriveFantasy user, you have a solid range of payment options for both deposits and withdrawals. I found the process relatively straightforward, as you simply need to click on the Account option on the bottom menu. Then, select either Add Funds or Withdraw Funds, and follow the instructions.

Here’s a breakdown of the available payment methods and their features:

ThriveFantasy keeps things when it comes to deposits. However, the minimum $25 withdrawal requirement is something to keep in mind, especially if you’re a casual DFS player. That said, I appreciate that the app allows trusted options like PayPal and bank transfers.

Poor customer service from ThriveFantasy

4.3/5

When it comes to customer support, ThriveFantasy DFS leaves a lot to be desired. How so? Well, the brand’s only official support channel is email. There’s no phone line or live chat to get help in real time. Additionally, I didn’t find a dedicated help center or FAQ section on the site. Given that the DFS app has been around since 2016, it’s unlikely this setup will change anytime soon.

In comparison, other newer fantasy sports sites offer modern support options. For instance, Betr, which launched in 2022, features email, live chat, and a detailed help center. From my findings, the responsive support team is one reason many US DFS players are convinced that Betr Picks is legit. The brand sure is, as I also confirmed during my review.

That said, ThriveFantasy does maintain an active presence on social media. I was able to reach out via direct messages on Twitter and Instagram. Responses aren’t the quickest via these channels, but it’s better than nothing.

Is ThriveFantasy legit and safe for US players?

4.4/5

ThriveFantasy is owned and operated by Props2Fantasy.com, Inc., a company located in New York. Hence, with this DFS app, you know you’re dealing with a US-based brand. Since it’s all about daily fantasy sports, ThriveFantasy doesn’t require a traditional gaming license.

From my expertise, the app can operate legally in US states where paid fantasy contests are allowed. I checked the Terms & Conditions and found that ThriveFantasy is available in 30+ states and restricted in the following 20:

  1. Alabama
  2. Arizona
  3. Hawaii
  4. Idaho
  5. Indiana
  6. Iowa
  7. Louisiana
  8. Maine
  9. Mississippi
  10. Missouri
  11. Montana
  12. Nevada
  13. New Hampshire
  14. New Jersey
  15. New York
  16. Pennsylvania
  17. Tennessee
  18. Vermont
  19. Virginia
  20. Washington

This isn’t exactly a drawback, as the situation is the same with many other DFS apps. Take Betr, for instance. From my review, I confirmed that Betr is legal in 34+ states and restricted in 16. The difference isn’t that much.

Security-wise, I found that ThriveFantasy uses SSL encryption to protect user data. Additionally, the app takes player safety seriously by offering options to self-exclude or set certain limits.

Zero rewards for existing players at ThriveFantasy

4.3/5

Beyond the 100% welcome deal, ThriveFantasy doesn’t fare too well in terms of promotions. I didn’t see any ongoing offers for regular players. If you’re thinking about daily boosts, reloads, and the likes, they’re unavailable.

Furthermore, ThriveFantasy doesn’t offer any structured rewards for returning players. In other words, there’s no VIP or loyalty program in place. I also checked the DFS brand’s social media pages but found no giveaways for existing users. Instead, the posts consistently promote the 100% first deposit match.

In short, once you’ve claimed the welcome bonus, that’s pretty much it for now in terms of rewards. Nevertheless, you can expect occasional special offers tied to popular sports events.

What specialities make ThriveFantasy stand out?

If you ask me, ThriveFantasy doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel in DFS. That said, its long presence in the niche is definitely a standout. Being active since 2016 shows ThriveFantasy is credible, at least more so than the newer DFS platforms.

Another subtle standout is the platform’s specific focus on player props. I’ve reviewed several DFS sites that offer a variety of contest formats, which is fine. However, it can sometimes get confusing for new users. Since ThriveFantasy keeps things streamlined with over/under picks based on player performances, it’s easier to follow up.

Nine sports contests covered at Thrive Fantasy

🏆 ThriveFantasy Sports Options

ThriveFantasy offers a total of nine sports, including:

  • NFL
  • NBA
  • MLB
  • Cricket
  • PGA
  • Esports
  • CS:GO
  • Dota
  • LoL
  • Valorant

The range covers regular sports and esports, which we highly commend.

📊 Contest Types

Notably, there are two main types of contests available: Traditional and Versus. Both revolve around picking over/under props, but here’s what makes them different:

  • Traditional: In these contests, I had to select from individual or combined stat-line props. Each correct pick returns fantasy points based on the odds. As you’d expect, the higher the risk, the higher the reward. Interestingly, the scoring system always totals 200 between the Over and Under values.
  • Versus: These contests require choosing which of two players will outperform the other in a specific stat category. Again, the points are weighted based on probability, so picking the underdog correctly can lead to more returns.

Similar to other DFS apps, every lineup in ThriveFantasy includes 10 player props plus two ICE (In-Case-of-Emergency) picks. The ICE picks sub in automatically if a player doesn’t feature in the game for whatever reason.

🔍 Prop Lobby

Furthermore, I explored the Prop Lobby, a feature that’s only available via the web. It lets you build quick pick’em lineups using 2, 3, or 4 props across different sports. While at it, I tested several strategies for each ThriveFantasy contest option, including checking out potential matched results on DarkHorse Odds. However, simply studying previous stats can help you make better over/under picks.

💰 Prize Pools

From my findings, prize pools on ThriveFantasy vary based on the contest type and number of entries. However, don’t expect extremely high figures. The brand’s maximum potential winning is 20.2x your entry amount. That applies mainly to the standard contests. For Pick’ems, we mainly found between 3.6x and 11x.

The silver lining is that entry amounts start at $1 and can exceed $100. Therefore, you can go with any figure that’ll provide a generous return based on the top prize for your DFS picks. According to ThriveFantasy, the brand has paid out over $100 million in prizes since its launch. That’s quite a huge figure in my opinion.

🤝 Community Rating

When it comes to community features, I didn’t find anything on the ThriveFantasy website or app. There’s no forum, leaderboard, or any kind of chat for users to interact. A drawback? I won’t disagree, because many DFS players are big on engaging with others.

The closest thing to a community comes from ThriveFantasy’s social media handles. You can keep up with the brand on platforms like X, Instagram, and Reddit. Indeed, it’s not the most interactive option, but it does offer a way to stay informed and connected.

⚖️ Final Thoughts

Ultimately, I maintain our stance that ThriveFantasy is a straightforward DFS app for player props. Just don’t expect any built-in community features, and keep in mind that the prize pools aren’t the highest. That said, the up to nine sports, Traditional and Versus contests, and the Prop Lobby, offer a good variety for daily fantasy sports.

My personal experience with ThriveFantasy

I recorded a smooth time playing DFS on ThriveFantasy, both on mobile and desktop. Much of it is thanks to the sleek interface, which made it easy to switch between Contests and Pick’em modes. Everything else was organized, so I didn’t waste time understanding how the app works.

During my ThriveFantasy reviews, I liked that the brand covers both regular sports and esports. It gave me a decent variety of contests from which to pick. Notably, the entry amounts are affordable, too, starting from just $1. I found it easy for us to try out different props without much risk.

That said, the maximum winning of 20.2x is a bit lower than what some other DFS platforms offer. I don’t entirely criticize it, but there’s definitely room for improvement on that front.

ThriveFantasy is a straight shooter in the DFS game

It’s safe to say ThriveFantasy offers a commendable DFS app with no complexities. You simply sign up and get into picking over/under-style player props. I like how simple the platform is to use, whether you’re on the app or desktop. Also, the $250 first deposit match is a decent welcome offer, and contest entry fees are affordable.

However, I recorded some noticeable gaps in my review. These include the limited customer support options, no ongoing promotions for existing users, and a lack of loyalty rewards. Nevertheless, ThriveFantasy is still worth checking out if you’re looking for a straightforward and reputable DFS app.
