Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker Ceased Operating in New York
Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker set to pull out of New York
SC gameplay will no longer be available from June 2nd
Players have until August 1st to redeem their remaining SCs
VGW Holdings, a top sweepstakes casino company, is set to pull most of its assets out of New York State. This includes some of the most popular US social casino sites like Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker.
The move was announced over the weekend, and sweepstakes gameplay on VGW sites will start to be phased out in the Empire State on June 2nd. All going to plan, Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker will be entirely pulled out of New York by August 1st. The move follows a regulatory crackdown on sweepstakes casinos.

VGW Holdings set to pull out of New York
Playing with promotional Sweeps Coins (SC) at Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker will no longer be available to players in New York starting on June 2nd. All NY-based account holders were informed of the move over the weekend via email and by alerts on their accounts.
Players who have not used and redeemed their SCs by August 1st, 2025, will forfeit all SCs in their remaining balance. However, entertainment-based gameplay with Gold Coins (GC) will still be available to New Yorkers.
Why has this happened?
VGW Holdings, the parent company of Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker, has taken this decision following moves to crack down on sweepstakes casinos in New York and several other US states.
Many legislators have moved to either regulate or ban sweepstakes casinos, as they are seen as a largely unregulated threat to the legal online gambling industries in many states. In NY, State Senator Joseph Addabbo put forward Bill S5935 back in March, which seeks to ban sweepstakes casinos in the state.
How the Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker NY ban will work – The key points
If you hold an active account on any of the above VGW Holdings sweepstakes casino sites, you will no longer be able to play casino-style games with Sweeps Coins (SC), from June 2nd.
Additionally, you will not be able to acquire any new SCs through free promotions, including:
❌ Free welcome offers
❌ Daily rewards
❌ GC purchase promotions
❌ No-cost social media giveaways
❌ Alternative method of Entry (AMoE)
You must redeem your eligible SCs by August 1st, 2025
While SC gameplay will be prohibited to NY players starting this Sunday (June 2nd), you can still redeem any eligible SCs that you have until August 1st. After that, any redeemable SCs in your balance will disappear completely.
However, you will still have your Gold Coins (GC) and will be able to play casino-style games for fun, but with no possibility of prize redemptions or sweepstakes entries.

Other sweepstakes casino brands that have pulled out of the Empire State
VGW Holdings isn’t the only sweepstakes casino to withdraw its key assets from the New York market following increased legislative scrutiny. Several other major brands have already ceased their operations in the Empire State, including:
❌ High 5 Casino
❌ Hello Millions
❌ McLuck
❌ Funzpoints
Where else has VGW Holdings ceased operations?
Legislators in several other US states have followed NY State Senator Joseph Addabbo’s approach to putting pressure on sweepstakes casino operators. Due to proposed bills and/or laws that have already been enacted, Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker have already stopped operating in the following locations:
Connecticut
Delaware
Idaho
Michigan
Montana
Nevada
Washington
You can still play at this sweepstakes casino in New York
Despite mounting pressure, sweepstakes casinos aren’t yet illegal in New York. There is pushback against the proposed ban from the Social and Promotional Gaming Association (SPGA), a trade group that represents multiple sweepstakes casino brands.

What does the future hold for sweepstakes casinos in New York?
It’s really tough to say for certain what will go, but it seems like the state legislators who have shown an interest in this topic are in one of two camps.
Some are seeking to regulate the sweepstakes casino industry, which would keep it legal and actually make it safer for players. On the other hand, many of the more hardline officials are in the camp of implementing an outright ban.
